Sauvignon Blanc is amongst my favourite white wine grapes

This versatile grape originated in France, was then transplanted, and cultivated further afield, as winegrowers emigrated elsewhere. It is now grown around the world.

Sauvignon Blanc is made into wine with varying characters and flavours. It is an easy one to order and to drink.

I always say that a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand is a good buy, and this was confirmed once again when I tasted Cloudy Bay’s 2020 vintage.

This latest vintage was launched in Hong Kong alongside a special menu, that featured a fusion of Asian flavours with clams, black cod, and a bit of Wagyu beef, developed by culinary talent Christopher Ho at SEVVA.

This wine is fresh, vibrant, tarte and juicy with citrus flavours. It was delicious as an aperitif, and then also with food.

I found it a highly pleasing accompaniment to the seafood heavy menu.

Cloudy Bay has an excellent reputation for making wines that are accessible, easy to drink and affordable. It is made to be consumed young. So, this 2020 Sauvignon Blanc should be opened and enjoyed – now.
