India by the Bay 2025

India by the Bay 2025 marks its tenth anniversary by highlighting music, dance, literature, food, and family activities in Hong Kong.

The event runs from November 6 to 12, 2025, at Asia Society Hong Kong Center, with an additional free public performance at Tai Kwun on November 2.

The festival opens with free performances at Tai Kwun featuring three sets: a cross-cultural percussion ensemble with tabla, mridangam, pakhawaj, and conga; a jazz performance blending multiple genres and cultures, including Indian and Chinese instruments; and a Bhangra dance set performed by the Bhangra Queens, led by Nazm Kaur.

On November 7, screenwriter and poet Javed Akhtar will discuss his contributions to Indian cinema and poetry.

November 8 features the International Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq, whose work challenges social hierarchies – alongside a gala dinner where two chefs explore Indian cuisine through a thoughtfully designed meal.

Family Day on November 9 offers workshops and performances spanning traditional arts, crafts, music, dance, yoga, and sports.

That day also includes a session with Shashi Tharoor on the history and uniqueness of Indian English.

On November 10, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, a sixth-generation sarod player, will perform, showcasing his mastery and the legacy of Indian classical music.

November 11 presents Nrityagram’s Odissi dance program, Khankhana: The Sound of Dancing Feet, featuring works choreographed by Surupa Sen that reflect the art form’s tradition and poetic movement.
