This definition aptly provides the reason we search for “culture” around the world. We feature events, actions and objects that show what people around the world are doing, creating and enjoying. The galleries and museums based in every continent are usually the first points of interest for most travellers to a city and country. These institutions draw visitors with thematic shows that present creative, artistic and humanistic accomplishments in different societies and situations. Being a global citizen and a world traveller starts here. Discover in our features some of the fabulous repositories of cultural treasures, showcases and exhibitions around the world available to all. - [Art in the MTR](https://culture-hongkong.com/category/features/art-in-the-mtr/) - Why we love this mosaic city called Hong Kong In 1998, when the Airport Express line opened, the operator decided to include art within the architecture of the stations. Since then, they have added and expanded their art collection as the MTR has grown to all corners of the city. What makes the Art in the MTR stations unique to Hong Kong is the celebration of local everyday experiences. Accessible to all in Hong Kong is artwork we can interact with via touch and shared encounters, artwork in which we can search for shared memories, artwork that reminds us to laugh at our flaws, artwork that reminds us how we rebuilt after hardships, artwork that reminds us of what we rebuilt and what we left alone, and artwork that reminds us why we love this mosaic city called Hong Kong. - [HK Places and Spaces](https://culture-hongkong.com/category/features/hk-places-and-spaces/) - Hong Kong is greener than it is grey Although it is a densely populated, overbuilt cityscape, there are expanses of immense natural beauty and serene calmness and quiet in the territory. As a matter of fact, more than three-quarters of Hong Kong is lush green countryside. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is to take a helicopter tour over the city. This excursion is surprisingly affordable if you book a flight and share it with a few friends. A fifteen-minute flight is all you need to take a fly-by around Hong Kong Island and over the Kowloon Peninsula, then skim the border with China and hover near the Hong Kong International Airport to watch the jets take off and land. From this bird’s eye view, Hong Kong is stunningly – small. Yet, it is covered in foliage, surrounded by mountains and ringed by deep blue seas. Our country parks, city parks, UNESCO Global Geopark, and beaches are magnets for our population of over seven million people on any holiday, weekend, school, or work break. Easily accessible, Hong Kong places and spaces are why this city is so breathtakingly attractive and liveable. - [Adventures far Afield](https://culture-hongkong.com/category/features/adventures-far-afield/) - “Itchy Feet” Globe-trotting travellers, risk-taking wonderers, and life-long explorers The meaning of the expression “itchy feet” has nothing to do with an actual physical itch, but it does involve the feet. Having “itchy feet” is to have a burning desire to leave a place…and to travel to another… and to find ADVENTURE. This desire brought me back to Hong Kong. I was born here but left when I was very young — too young to remember anything much of consequence. I have faint memories of the sea. I have vague recollections of my mom taking me to the street markets, the joy of seeing colourful balloons, and of having child-sized chopsticks in my hands. My formative years were spent in Canada as an immigrant. Once we got there, we didn’t go anywhere. My family didn’t travel. But I got “itchy feet”. It started when I was in high school and had the opportunity to go on field trips. I went sailing in the Caribbean and took a bus tour through a few countries in Europe. These voyages fed a small flame, and I longed to see the world. I read a travel feature that said, “If you want to live your dream, don’t wait. You have to pull the trigger.” A few years after university…I pulled the trigger! I spent a few months travelling through Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, and then I landed back in Hong Kong. The city has since been my home base and launching pad. I am delighted to have befriended so many “itchy feet” comrades. All of them, I met here. It has been my pleasure and theirs, to share our tales with other fellow globe-trotting travellers, risk-taking wonderers, and life-long explorers. As we continue our journey and travel to seek far away and exotic places, we share our discoveries and adventures far afield, in richly illustrated features in CULTURE. Here are our stories. Enjoy! Cammy - [Wine and Dine](https://culture-hongkong.com/category/features/wine-and-dine/) - It is good to get out and enjoy Hong Kong’s fabulous food and wine offerings All cuisines are available in our city, and at every price point. There is no better place than Hong Kong to find the best and most innovative dim sum dishes. Or to eat local style dishes at a Cha Chaan Teng, our quintessential canteen tea house, and to stumble upon yet another wonderful place for a signature bowl of Won Ton or Beef Brisket noodles. Restaurateurs providing fine dining and merchants offering fine wine have found a huge and demanding market here. With so much “on the table”, Hong Kong is Asia’s “foodie” capital and a global gourmet destination. - [Cammy's Wine Blog](https://culture-hongkong.com/category/features/cammys-wine-blog/) - [Hong Kong Artist](https://culture-hongkong.com/category/features/hong-kong-artist/) - Creative talent working locally An eclectic mix of talented artists make Hong Kong their home. Now, and throughout the last century, artists have thrived here while creating and developing their work. Amidst a dynamic and ever-changing art scene, they continue to push the evolution of artistic styles and methods. We showcase the creative talent working locally. These artists continue to evolve, reflecting many different influences, from Eastern and Western thoughts and philosophy to current topics and art trends. - [Classic Features](https://culture-hongkong.com/category/features/classic-features/) ## Tags -
